The monumentality of the characters, becoming more and more individual from tragedy to tragedy, the grandiose scale that mythical and historical events acquire in each work of Aeschylus, the high moral and civic pathos - all these features of the dramaturgy of the great Athenian poet contributed to the final establishment of drama as the leading genre of Greek literature at the time its highest flowering. And they also ensured Aeschylus himself a place among the greatest dramatic poets of the world. This book includes all the tragedies of Aeschylus that have come down to us in their entirety. Some of them are published in a new translation.
