A researcher of German and Russian literature, a recognized expert on Goethe, translator from Russian into German and from German into Russian, author of the famous books “Great Companions” and “Dostoevsky and Schiller” and many other works, was a long-time friend of Boris Pasternak from a young age. In his memoirs, N. Vilmont not only talks about events of those now distant years, about people close to Pasternak at that time, but also interestingly comments on many of the poet’s works.
