About the book: 1977 / The book consists of two stories by the Czech poet and prose writer Svatopluk Cech (4846–1908). The hero of these stories is the Prague homeowner, petty bourgeois Pan Matej Broucek. Having sent his hero in one case to the Moon (“True description of the journey of Mr. Brouček to the Moon”), in another case to the 15th century (“The new epoch-making journey of Mr. Vrouček, this time in the 15th century”), the author presents many aspects of contemporary Czech reality, reveals the essence and nature of the tradesman.
