About the book: 2022 / At the end of the 16th and beginning of the 17th centuries, there were brutal internecine wars in Japan. Ultimately, Prince Tokugawa Ieyasu was able to defeat his rivals and created a great empire, over which his descendants ruled for more than two hundred and fifty years. In his struggle against the recalcitrant provincial princes, he relied on the samurai, a warrior class similar to the knightly class in Europe. The samurai had their own code of honor (Bushido, “The Way of the Warrior”, from another name for samurai - bushi), based on the teachings of the Buddhist sect of Zen. In this book, one of the main characters, whose prototype was Takuana, a great swordsman from the entourage of Prince Ieyasu, serves an example of a typical samurai who religiously adheres to the code of Bushido. This code also applied to love and family relationships, which is also shown in the book. Ancient Japanese engravings were used in its design. The publishing layout of the book was saved in PDF A4 format..
