About the book: 1960 / This collection includes eight film scripts written by famous American film playwrights at different times. The films based on these scripts, which occupied a certain place in the history of American progressive cinema, were not shown on our screens. Therefore, we considered it correct to talk not only about the literary works published here, but also about their authors, about those who embodied these works in visual images. This seemed all the more necessary to us since most of the scripts were created by film playwrights for a specific director, taking into account the characteristics of his talent and creative style, or were staged by the script authors themselves.
