The book traces the historical development of the country and the role played by France in the international arena. The chronology of the first volume ends with the crisis of absolutism and the Great French Revolution, the second volume tells about the formation and development of capitalism until the end of the First World War, the third volume describes the modern history of France. “History of France” is published in three volumes; each volume corresponds to a specific historical period. The first volume covers the time from the early state formations on the territory of ancient Gaul to the crisis of the feudal-absolutist system growing throughout the 18th century. The second volume is devoted to the new history of France, i.e., the time from the Great French Revolution of the end of the 18th century V. until the Great October Socialist Revolution of 1917 and the end of the First World War. The third volume is entirely devoted to the modern history of France, the historical processes of the next fifty years - the history of the Third Republic between the two world wars, the difficult years of the Second World War and the turbulent events of past years - France of the Fourth and the fifth republics, the role of France in the modern world.
