About the book: 2019 / The book by candidate of philological sciences Vladimir Novikov is dedicated to a unique cultural phenomenon that originated in Russia at the beginning of the 19th century - the Russian literary estate. Mikhailovskoye, Tarkhany, Yasnaya Polyana, Spasskoye-Lutovinovo, Karabikha, Abramtsevo, Melikhovo... - it’s impossible to imagine Russian culture without them. Vladimir Novikov, an expert on estate life, managed to find his own intonation and talk about these estates in his own way - soulfully, showing attention to detail and maintaining the accuracy of the fact. Along with iconic literary estates, he also talks about estates associated with the lives of “background” writers (Venevitinov and Novozhivotinnoye, Rostopchina and Voronovo, Fet and Vorobyovka, Voloshin and Koktebel...). Vladimir Novikov's book is a high-quality study and at the same time a kind of guidebook, covering twenty-three estates that played an outstanding role in the history of our literature. It logically continues his book “Russian Literary Estate” (“Lomonosov», 2012).
