About the book: 1899 / The title of this work may at first glance cause surprise. Social reform or revolution? Can social democracy be against social reform? Is it possible to contrast social revolution, a revolution in the existing system, the ultimate goal of social democracy, with social reform? Of course not. For social democracy, the everyday practical struggle for social reforms, for improving the situation of the working people even on the basis of the existing system, the struggle for democratic institutions is, on the contrary, the only way to lead the class struggle of the proletariat, to advance towards the ultimate goal - the seizure of political power and the abolition of the wage system labor. For social democracy, there is an inextricable link between social reform and social revolution: the struggle for social reform is the means, and social revolution is the goal. People's tribune, fiery revolutionary fighter Rosa Luxemburg (1871-1919) is one of the outstanding figures of the international communist and labor movement. She was one of the founders of the Communist Party of Germany and the Social Democratic Party of Poland, an active leader of the German Social Democracy and the left wing of the Second International. Since the 90s of the last century, Rosa Luxemburg led an irreconcilable struggle against reformism, which sought to direct the labor movement towards the class path cooperation and compromise with the bourgeoisie.
