About the book: 1965 / From 1874 to 1880 Daudet regularly contributed to the newspaper "Journal of Office" as a theater critic. He wrote more than two hundred and fifty reviews, articles, and notes. A small part of them - a number of portraits of actors - was included by the writer in the book “Memoirs of a Writer”. By the end of his life, the writer selected nine more articles and compiled them into the book “Between the Friezes and the Footlights,” published in 1894 by the Dantu publishing house (translated into Russian, they were included in the Collected Works of Panteleev). However, most of the articles remained uncollected and, therefore, inaccessible to the reader. Only in 1923, Lucien Daudet selected sixty articles of his father and published them in the Flammarion publishing house as a separate book entitled “Unpublished Pages of Theater Criticism.” The articles included in this edition are taken from this collection. All of them have been translated into Russian for the first time.
