About the book: 2018 / For the first time in the series “The Lives of Remarkable People,” a biography of one of the greatest saints of the Russian Orthodox Church, St. Seraphim of Sarov, is published. His popular veneration during his lifetime reached incredible heights; the veneration of the ascetic in the modern world is amazing - icons of the elder are not uncommon in Catholic and Protestant churches around the world. One can rightly say about the author of the book: “He extended the earthly life of Saint Seraphim.” It was his research that put an end to the long-standing dispute between historians - in what year Prokhor Moshnin was born, Seraphim became a monk. The researcher’s arguments, expressed back in 2000 at a scientific conference in Nizhny Novgorod, and then published in the book “St. Seraphim of Sarov: Traditions and Facts,” were recognized by the hierarchy of the Russian Orthodox Church as justified, and in 2004, a nationwide celebration of the 250th anniversary of birth of St. Seraphim. The book allows you to look at the saint from a historical point of view, freeing his biography from the captivity of myths and misconceptions.
