The story “Yanka” is the story of a teenager who faced difficulties that he had never expected before: his parents’ divorce, moving, finding new friends. The title character has to rebuild her life from scratch, but, no matter how difficult it may be, it is in this “rebuilding” that she finds new resources. Not to mention how much she learns about herself and those around her! Whatever topic Tamara Mikheeva takes on, her deep understanding of psychology remains unchanged. A little girl (“Light Mountains”, “Asino’s Summer”), a rebellious teenager (“Yanka”) - both these main characters and numerous secondary ones turn out to be lively and interesting from the writer. Winner of many awards in children's literature (among them the S. Mikhalkov competition and the National Prize “Treasured Dream”), Tamara Mikheeva writes easily and captivatingly, unobtrusively telling the reader how to cope with the changes that make up our life - new every day.
