About the book: 2021 / The book examines the structure and nomenclature of elite social groups in mass societies of the 20th century. Using examples of countries of various types, the numbers, growth dynamics, structure and composition of mass elite groups are shown. The issues of stratification of these groups, vertical social mobility and the associated composition of mass elite groups by social origin, the circumstances that led to the segregation of higher groups of people of mental labor from lower ones and bringing the latter closer to groups of people of manual labor are touched upon. The number of the highest elite in various countries, its educational level and role in its recruitment of the most prestigious educational institutions, the degree of reproduction of different groups of the highest elite (economic, political, administrative and military, intellectual and cultural) from among the mass elite groups are also considered.
