MediaDB / «Summer in Baden” by Leonid Tsypkin: download fb2, read online
About the book: 2003 / The first edition of Leonid Tsypkin’s novel, published in English translation, became a sensation in the West. “A lost masterpiece”, “a grandiose milestone in Russian literature of the 20th century”, “the most unknown work of genius published in America over the past 50 years” - these are the reviews from the reviews that followed. It was about him that Susan Sontag wrote: “I would, without any doubt, include this novel among the most outstanding, sublime and original achievements of a century full of literature and literariness - in the broadest sense of this definition.” The fascinating rhythm of the novel intertwines the narrator’s journey from Moscow in the 70s to Leningrad and Dostoevsky’s journey with his wife Anna Grigorievna from St. Petersburg to Europe in 1867; fiction in it is difficult to distinguish from reality. In Russia, the name of the author, a pathologist who died in 1982, unfortunately, remains unknown to this day. By presenting this wonderful work to the Russian reader, the editors of “UFO” hope to close this gap.
