About the book: 1993 / The first civilian airline between the United States and Europe was laid by Pan American in the summer of 1939. It operated for only a few weeks and ceased to exist immediately after the Nazi invasion of Poland. The novel describes the last passenger flight over the Atlantic, fictionalized by the author, a few days before the start of World War II. The flight, passengers and crew are the author’s invention, but the plane itself is quite real and actually existed.
