MediaDB / «City of Brezhnev" Shamil Idiatullin: download fb2, read online
About the book: 2017 / In 1983, the song “Gop-Stop” was sung for the first time, trade union committees began recording those wishing to buy a “Muscovite” on credit and without waiting in line, prices for oil fell by one and a half times in the fourth year of the Afghan campaign, the United States imposed economic sanctions against the USSR, moved cruise missiles to its borders and temporarily occupied Grenada, and Soviet air defense forces shot down a South Korean Boeing. Thirteen-year-old Arthur lives in the best country in the world, the USSR and the best in the world city of Brezhnev. He lives the full life of a happy Soviet teenager: yawns during lessons and pioneer camps, screams with a guitar in the entrance, has fun at discos, dreams of learning the forbidden karate and really doesn’t want to go to the boring pioneer camp. But it is in the pioneer camp that Arthur will fulfill his dream, meet his first love and his first mentor. This meeting will forever change the life of Arthur, his parents, friends and all the best city in the world, the best country in the world, which, imperceptibly for everyone and for itself, has already crunched and began to crumble into pieces and dust. Shamil Idiatullin is the author of very different books: a mystical thriller “Ubyr”, the sad utopia “USSR™” and the fantastic adventures “It’s just a game” - by his own admission, he had been waiting for a long time for someone to write a book about Soviet childhood at a turning point: “about Andropov’s tightening of the screws, oil coupons, Gopnik’s “winders”, Lenin’s score, re-photographed sleeves of Western records, first love, shaved heads, nunchucks in the sleeve...” And then I realized that I could wait forever, and I wrote the book myself..
