About the book: 2016 / Genre of the book Karthik K.B. Rao's "The Mahabharata Code" can be called fantasy, but it contains notes of surrealism, philosophy and psychedelia. Some plot points may vaguely resemble works such as “The Prince of Light” by R. Zelazny and the “Black Screwtape” series by G.L. Oldie. The translation presented is completely amateur and does not aim to make a profit. The main goal is to introduce the Russian reader to a sample of modern Indian adventure literature, and also, possibly, to interest professional translators and publishers. The Mahabharata Code is the personal account of the main character Narayan RAO (NR), who claims to be a NASA astronomer. HP and several other crew members agree to take part in a NASA mission to visit this mysterious planet from which they have received mysterious signals. Here they meet a man with a long flowing white beard and he introduces himself as Vyasa. He reveals that he has a crazy plan in his head and seeks the help of NR and his members in carrying out this plan. He intends to recreate the entire Mahabharata on this planet to restore the faith of the primitive simpletons here. As the events of the Mahabharata begin to unfold, NR realizes that Vyasa intends to recreate them here page by page, if not paragraph by paragraph. Also, NR begins to realize that his son Krishna, whom Vyasa is raising as an avatar of Vishnu, is nothing more than a pawn in Vyasa's scheme of things. Other events of the Mahabharata also unfold according to the original epic. The Pandavas and Kauravas grow up hating each other, and eventually the restoration plan ends with both warring groups of cousins facing each other on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. Inexplicably, just like in the original epic, Arjuna chickened out when he saw his cousins, teachers and relatives on the opposite side. He seeks Krishna's divine intervention. Is the brainwashed “alien” Krishna ready for such an intervention? Translation by Yuri Viktorovich Sedov Cover theme suggested by the publishing house.
