Nothing is known about its author (except that he is a Saxon), but, according to researchers, when compiling his work, he used more than 100 independent chronicles of different authors, and the anonymous person himself received the respectful nickname Annalista. Translations of fragments of Annalist's "Chronicle" wander from one anthology on the history of the Middle Ages to another, but this "Chronicle" is published entirely in Russian for the first time.
