About the book: year / Carrisi's detective stories differ from traditional Italian prose: he writes dynamically, brightly, intensely. In one interview they said that his style is similar to American. The writer responds: “I’m sure in Italy we are a little behind in the mechanics of storytelling. As soon as you use a style, let’s say, a little international, then a lot of people immediately start talking about the work.” Detective Carrisi really approaches the European style. It's darker and more intense, a bit Scandinavian. He once said: “In my books there are no good or evil characters, they are all cursed in one way or another.” But the most interesting thing is that Carrisi’s books are based on real crimes, around which the writer cleverly twists the plot of the novel. When asked why he writes detective stories, Carrisi once said: “Thrillers are a mirror of the soul. When you meet a monster, in life or in a book, you think how different you are from him. Then you listen to him and find out how similar he is to you. The allure of evil is the secret voice that attracts us.” Perhaps Carrisi’s most famous detective story is “The Girl in the Fog.” It became a bestseller in 26 countries and sold more than a million copies. In one of the interviews, the author admitted that the novel was written for cinema. Two years after publication, a film adaptation was released - a film co-produced by Italy, France and Germany. The main role was played by actor Jean Reno, and Carrisi himself became the screenwriter and director. In Italy, the film was released in October last year and was a great success. Donato Carrisi believes that while crime writers do not necessarily need to become experts in the field of criminology, direct contact with real criminals provides invaluable experience and insight into human nature. He himself studied criminology and behavioral sciences for several years, which is why his novels are so accurate and truthful.
