About the book: 2020 / Alexander Makeev, head of the Documentation Center of the Gulag History Museum, collected materials for this book about the fate of his great-grandfather for three years. During this time, a huge number of requests were made to various archives of Russia and the former republics of the USSR, materials from investigative, administrative and personal cases were received. A large number of photographs and letters were found that seemed lost forever. Alexander managed to find 38 letters from his great-grandfather from Siblag. These are the last letters from the pastor, in which he tries to support his relatives in their forced separation. Until the end of their lives, the wife and children did not have a chance to find out what happened and why the letters from Siblag stopped coming. During the search, the great-grandson managed to find out the real reason for such silence: Voldemar Wagner was shot on September 24, 1937. Alexander Makeev also managed to establish the identities of the people directly involved in the execution of his great-grandfather, all members of the firing squad.
