About the book: 1986 / The work of Lev Slavin is widely known to Soviet and foreign readers. Over more than half a century of literary activity, he wrote several novels, stories, film scripts, plays, many short stories and essays. At different times, L. Slavin published memoirs dedicated to I. Babel, A. Platonov, E. Bagritsky, Yu. Olesha, Vs. Ivanov, M. Svetlov. In the “Fiery Revolutionaries” series, L. Slavin’s stories “For Our and Your Freedom” (1968) - about Yaroslav Dombrovsky and “Furious” (1973) - about Vissarion Belinsky were published. His new book is dedicated to the great Russian thinker, writer and revolutionary Alexander Herzen. The author shows his hero in a complex interweaving of life, political and literary conflicts, reveals the widest range of personal, ideological connections and contacts of Herzen in the environment of Russian and international democracy. The story, first published in 1979, received positive responses from readers and the press and is being published in its third edition.
