About the book: 1963 / One day Alberto Verani picks up the phone and takes an order for two dozen scarlet roses. The caller got the wrong number, but Alberto is pleasantly surprised and already looking forward to an adventure with a stranger. The flowers are delivered and received by Maria, Alberto's wife. Among the flowers, she finds a card labeled “Riddle.” She is overwhelmed by the desire to meet this mysterious man. Alberto realizes what happened and wants to continue the prank to test how loyal Maria is to him and how far she can go. He sends her roses every day and is jealous of a non-existent rival.
