About the book: year / Vladimir Ivanovich Savchenko is a Soviet science fiction writer. Born in Poltava, graduated from the Moscow Energy Institute (MPEI), electrical engineer by profession. He began writing science fiction stories while still a student at Moscow Power Engineering Institute, and his first publication took place in 1955 in the magazine “Knowledge is Power.” Almost all of his works are written in a kind of “engineering style”, where the focus is on a detailed analysis of some discovery or invention. But the entertaining nature of the plot does not suffer from this. Moreover, in each of his works, Vladimir Savchenko presents to the reader some inherently paradoxical, but very carefully described and scientifically substantiated discovery or invention. For example, in the story “The Phantom of Time,” space researchers discover a mirror planet orbiting a star with even more unusual properties of antimatter and antitime. And in the story “The Hour of Talent” the hero invents an unusual device, a correlator, which modifies the information field of the world around us. He published his last work in 1992 - a major novel “Position in the Universe”, which is the first book of the “Universals” series conceived by the author. For the story “The Stealers of the Essence” in 1989 he received the highest award of Ukrainian science fiction writers - the Chumatskiy Shlyakh award. The last novel published in 1994, “Position in the Universe,” was nominated for the “Great Ring.” In 2003, the writer was awarded the Aelita Prize for his contribution to Russian-language fiction.
