About the book: year / SALOV ILYA ALEXANDROVICH (1834–1903) - prose writer, playwright. Salov spent his childhood not far from Penza on his father’s family estate, Nikolsky, located in a picturesque corner of the Volga region. Pictures of nature, painted accurately and poetically, will become an integral part of his works. Second edition One of Salov’s best works, the story “The Grachevsky Crocodile,” had two editions. In the first edition, the story resembled anti-nihilistic works written according to a template and received a harsh assessment from Shchedrin. In the second book edition, the text of “The Grachev Crocodile” was replenished with ten new chapters; Some scenes and episodes also underwent radical changes. Thus, the first and second editions of the story are essentially two fundamentally different works, only superficially resembling each other.
