An engineer-inventor, serving exile on a business trip on the planet Tarkos, gets involved in a struggle between the clans of the chipped and unchipped. Taking the side of the latter, he creates a program that provokes a revolution. A year later, the freedom-loving winners create their own programs that control the inhabitants of the planet through chips.
