About the book: 2017 / After the First World War, work began in all developed countries to transfer artillery to mechanical traction, since horse-drawn artillery no longer met the new transportation requirements anti-tank, anti-aircraft and field guns of greater mass and increased power. To provide the Red Army with artillery tractors, the Kharkov Locomotive Plant (KhPZ) was instructed to design a heavy tractor based on and using elements of the chassis of the T-24 tank. The resulting machine was called "Comintern". During the period 1934 to 1940, 1,798 vehicles were produced, used in all wars and armed conflicts that our country waged until the mid-1940s. The first book is about the Soviet artillery tractor "Comintern", which was rightfully considered one of the best medium-sized tractors of its time. And although the prototype of the Comintern was the German Hanomag WD-50 tractor, Soviet designers managed to create an original vehicle - high-speed, cross-country and maneuverable, confidently towing almost all guns with a caliber of up to 152 mm, and sometimes even 203 mm B-4 howitzers .History of the creation, improvement and combat use of tracked tractors from their inception to mandatory participation in parades on Red Square. The book is equipped with rare photographs and illustrations, much of which is published for the first time.
