About the book: 1973 / Mikhail Makarovich Kolosov was born in 1923 in the city of Avdeevka, Donetsk region. Here he graduated from a ten-year school, worked at a railway station, as a worker at a brick factory. During the Great Patriotic War, Mikhail Kolosov served in the army as an ordinary machine gunner, a squad commander, and a battalion Komsomol organizer. He was wounded twice. M. Kolosov’s first story, “To Labor,” was published in a regional newspaper in 1947. Since 1950, his stories “Pigeons”, “Lysko”, “For Bread” and others have been published in the anthology “Friendship” (Lendetgiz). In 1954, Kolosov’s collection “Pigeons” was published. In subsequent years, M. Kolosov wrote the stories “Bakhmutsky Way” and “Yashkin’s Odyssey”. They tell about how teenage boys lived and fought against the fascist invaders during the Great Patriotic War in one of the mining villages. Later, collections of stories and novellas “Green Guy”, “Karpov Epic”, “Barberry”. “Boy” were published. - this is the story of the boy Mishka Kovalev, whose father died at the front.
