The daughter of a noble and powerful man, Freyvid Ognivo, Herdis, quarreled with Hrodmar, a relative of the Fjallenland king Thorbrand, and brought a dangerous disease to their tribe, from which two sons and Thorbrand's wife died. Wanting to take revenge on the witch, Thorbrand starts a war. Each of the books of the epic has a completely complete plot and can be considered separately, but together they win. Each book has its own main characters with their own life circumstances. The main characters of earlier books pass as minor characters in subsequent volumes, allowing the reader to learn about their future fate. Major events are covered from different points of view, in any conflict, each of the disputants is right in his own way, and the reader has to decide for himself who is “good” and who is “bad.” There are no angels and demons, no wise wizards and invincible warriors, but there are living people who are able to exist in ordinary life, and not just within the conventions of a fantasy novel. Each of the characters is a person with their own combination of positive and negative qualities. Children are similar to their parents, but do not copy them, but use the received spiritual heritage in their own way. There is a lot of supernatural in the plot: many magical objects, fantastic creatures and witchcraft spells, but any witchcraft is only a tool, and the course of life is determined by a person, the effort of his will, the decision of the mind and the choice of the heart. The fate of a person is his ability to subjugate changeable circumstances and adapt to unchangeable ones - this is how the idea of ​​an epic can be expressed in a simplified way.
