About book: 1960 / The “Book for reading on Marxist philosophy” offered to the attention of readers has the task of simply and clearly talking about some of the most important issues of dialectical and historical materialism. It is based on the philosophy brochures from the “Popular Library on Marxism-Leninism” series, which received a positive assessment from readers, and were appropriately revised and supplemented. In the process of processing these brochures, the goal was not to completely eliminate repetition in various articles. The editors sought to preserve the independent meaning of individual articles, so that each of them could be read and understood independently of the others. This is not a textbook, but a book to read. However, it goes without saying that a consistent study of the contents of this book is most appropriate and fruitful. The following took part in the creation of the book: Doctor of Philosophy M. M. Rosenthal (“What is philosophy”, “What is the Marxist theory of knowledge”), Doctor of Philosophy T. I. Oizerman (“What is the essence and significance of materialist philosophy”), Candidate of Philosophy A. I. Uemov (“What is matter and what is its structure”), Candidate of Philosophy A. E. Furman (“Materialistic dialectics as a method of knowledge and practical activity”), Doctor of Philosophy V. P. Tugarinov ( “The Laws of Nature and Society”), Doctor of Philosophy G. E. Glerman (“Method of production and its role in the development of society”), Professor P. S. Cheremnykh (“What are classes and why is there class struggle”, “Dictatorship of the proletariat” - the main instrument of transformation of society”), Doctor of Philosophy D. I. Chesnokov (“The State and its role in the history of society”), Candidate of Historical Sciences S. M. Kovalev (“What is the communist education of the working people”), Candidate of Philosophy P.K. Galdyaev (“What is scientific socialism”). The general edition of the book belongs to Professor M. M. Rosenthal. The book is intended for a wide range of readers interested in issues of Marxist-Leninist philosophy. It will assist students of dialectical and historical materialism in the system of party education.
