Stomma’s book tells about events that were recorded in the historical memory of peoples as very significant, decisive, turning points, whereas in fact, if they were such at all, they were only partially so. They didn’t turn the world upside down, at best they sparkled like a meteor and went out, or took the place of others, much more significant, or even ended up in the pantheon of history by accident, thanks to some charming detail.
