About the book: 1975 / Until the 17th century, Georgian historians called the Basque Country Sakartvelo (Sakartvelo is the self-name of Georgia). At one time, when George Saakadze asked for troops from Western Europe to fight the Turks and Persians, the Pope promised the Georgians all kinds of military assistance if they accepted Catholicism, like their brothers: the Iberian Spaniards. Below we attach two articles by the Georgian writer Alexander Kiknadze (author dulogies “The Royal Primrose” and “Ford through Aragoa”), published back in 1975-76. in the magazine “Technology - Youth”, dedicated to the issue of Basque-Georgian kinship.
