About the book: 1963 / Boris Slutsky’s new book “Today and Yesterday” is the poet’s third book. It is almost entirely devoted to modern times and opens with a cycle of poems-reflections on our days. In the “Dormitory” section there are poems about the thoughts and feelings that Soviet people bring to their new homes; poems about people of science, poetic reflections on its paths. In the “Lyrics” section there are portrait poems of Aseev, Lunacharsky, Martynov, poems about poetry. The book concludes with poems about the poet’s youth and the years of war; Some of the poems in this section were published in previous books. The new book speaks of the increased skill of Boris Slutsky and reflects the genre searches of an interesting Soviet poet.
