About the book: year / It's very simple. Led Zeppelin is my favorite band and Jimmy Page is my favorite guitarist. I would never have undertaken such a voluminous and complex work as translating this book if I had known that someone else would translate it adequately. However, acquaintance with numerous translations of biographies of various rock musicians, among which there were even some interviews that make up this book, did not inspire me with optimism in this regard. In all these works there were gross errors and inaccuracies in the field of guitar playing technique, the design and functioning of musical equipment and instruments, sound recording technologies and the organization of concert events, the processes of the music business and musicians. I didn't want to see that kind of crap in a book about Jimmy Page. And therefore, based on my many years of experience as a Russian guitar brand manager for Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, Marshall and editor-in-chief of Guitars Magazine, for the first time in my life I decided to try to translate an entire book, and not just a separate article, as it happened to me earlier. And, by the way, even eight years after the release of the first edition of the book, none of our book houses have yet released any translations of “Light&Shade: Conversations with Jimmy Page.” And at one time I contacted almost all of our publishing houses, but they were not interested in my work on the book, and therefore now you can familiarize yourself with it in Russian only in the form of this file.— Sergey Tynku
