About the book: 1995 / Rev. Simeon Metaphrast (whose memory is celebrated on November 9) lived in the second half of the 9th century. He was a prolific church writer, but his works are more likely to represent transcriptions of other church writings, which is reflected in his very name “Metaphrast” - “Reteller”. Several of his prayers before and after Communion and the Canon for the Weeping of the Most Holy Theotokos on Good Friday have been preserved in our service. The main work of Rev. Simeon Metaphrast consists in presenting the lives of the saints by month, which served as the main source in the compilation of the “Lives of the Saints” of the saints. Dimitri Rostovsky.
