About the book: 2020 / They say that the work of a historian is in many ways akin to the work of an investigator. The truth of this statement had to be confirmed in October 2015, when in one of the oldest monasteries of Vladimir, the Dormition Princess Monastery, the tomb of its founder, who lived in the second half of the 12th century, was opened. Maria Shvarnovna, the first wife of the Grand Duke of Vladimir Vsevolod the Big Nest. The burial contained the remains of four people. This amazing discovery led to a whole investigation to find out: who were these people and what relationship did they have with each other? Step by step, the historian still manages to unravel this mystery. Along the way, other questions are also being resolved: who was Mary’s ethnic origin - “Asynya”, that is, who came from the Yas people - the ancestors of modern Ossetians (as the ancient Ipatiev Chronicle believes), or whether she came from the Czechs, as the chroniclers of the XV-XVII claim centuries? Was her father a prince and where did he reign? When and why was St. Demetrius Cathedral built in Vladimir? Where did the lion on the coat of arms of Vladimir come from? Where did you find “The Tale of Igor’s Campaign”? Publishing layout saved in PDF A4 format.
