About the book: 2018 / Since the formation of Kievan Rus, intelligence has been a state, secret matter. This work describes the emergence and development in the Russian language of words inherent in military intelligence at each historical stage of the construction of the Russian state. Each newly emerging intelligence term is supported by a corresponding citation from the sources. At the same time, a context is given that explains the situation in which and in connection with which this word appeared. Along with this, in most cases it is told how much the received intelligence information reflected reality. The book traces the appearance and disappearance of some intelligence terms along with the consolidation of others, more than 400 names in total. The author is a Doctor of Historical Sciences, a professor who has written more than 10 monographs on the history of Russian military intelligence.
