MediaDB / «Capricious reflection. Feminist ideas on the silver screen" Valeria Kosyakova, Tatiana Kruvko: download fb2, read online
About the book: 2024 / The relationship between cinema and feminism since both phenomena took an important place in Western culture has been full of contradictions. From a feminist point of view, cinema is the embodied child of Western patriarchal culture, the personification of male thinking. From a cinematic point of view, a woman is a desirable subject to photograph. Through the intersection of these two perspectives, cinema becomes a platform for feminist debate and research that has been actively shaped over decades. Drawing on a wide range of works, Tatiana Kruvko and Valeria Kosyakova analyze current strategies for the interaction of cinema with feminist theories and practices of the 20th and 21st centuries. The choice of films is dictated by the basic aspects that feminist criticism invariably addresses: representation of corporeality, gender politics, power ambitions, identity politics, otherness, posthumanism. Based on the material of the selected films, the authors find reflections of the key concepts of femme theory in cinema and show how cinema highlighted the internal contradictions of the women's movement. Tatiana Kruvko is a cultural scientist, film researcher, visiting lecturer at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, author of articles and lectures on the history and theory of feminism and cinema. Valeria Kosyakova - candidate of cultural studies, associate professor of the Russian State University for the Humanities "Higher School of European Cultures", founder of the "Punctum" center, researcher of visual culture.
