About the book: 2021 / Minchenkov Andrey Viktorovich (born in 1966) - psychologist, body-oriented therapist, full member of the PPL (Professional Psychotherapeutic League) . Author of the book “Methods of structural psychosomatics” (Moscow, 2002). Since 1990, he has conducted more than a thousand seminars and trainings on body-oriented psychology, psychological counseling, the art of public speaking, art therapeutic approaches. Area of personal interests: history of world culture, Russian and European poetry, history of antiquity and the Renaissance. Interest in the history of athletics and systems of physical development of the 19th – early 20th centuries arose during my student years, in the mid-1980s. Over the course of several years spent in the reading rooms of the Leningrad Public Library, I read and took notes on dozens of ancient books devoted to the development of strength and the strengthening of physical and mental health. For several years I studied not only according to the system of Eugene Sandow (Evgeniy Sandov), but also mastered Anokhin’s volitional gymnastics, Zass’s isometric exercises, and Ittman’s and Harrison’s self-resistance exercises. Now, many years later, I have returned to active training with Sandow spring dumbbells. This book is the first biography of Eugene Sandow in Russia. It covers not only the life and career of the great athlete, but also introduces the reader in detail to the evolution of his dumbbell gymnastics system, which has not lost its relevance today. The publishing layout of the book is saved in PDF A4 format.
