About the book: 1926 / "Book of Memories" is a novel of my life, which accidentally stretched over three quarters of a century and, for this reason alone, is of some social and psychological interest . I was born at the height of the horror of the serfs. Pictures of family and social slavery passed before me. I had to witness gradual, and in the end extremely rapid changes in the mood of entire classes. Before my eyes, the struggle of children with fathers and fathers with children, peasants with landowners and landowners with peasants, the proletariat with capital, science with ignorance and religious fanaticism played out, I also saw the temporary triumph of darkness over light. In “The Novel of My Life” the reader will find truthfully collected by my memory material for judging the history of the development of the personality of the average Russian person, who carried through all the stages of our society, quickly succeeding each other, in struggle and in mutual denial and, however, giving rise to each other, a sense of truth and impartial attitude to reality, which whatever she is.
