The author introduces the reader to the works of Beranger, Egesippe Moreau, Pierre Dupont, Charles Gilles, Victor Hugo, Eugene Potier and a number of other poets. Responding to the events of the national history of the 19th century, political poetry closely peered into the life and struggle of the working masses, advocated for the improvement of their lot and enriched French literature with the theme of the working people rising up in arms to fight for their liberation from the capitalist yoke.
