About the book: 2016 / Grigory Ivanovich Mulovsky was the best naval officer during the reign of Catherine II. His dream was to make the first Russian circumnavigation, but due to the war with Sweden, these plans were postponed indefinitely. Mulovsky was appointed commander of the ship "Mstislav". In 1788, he took part in the battle of Gogland Island. In this battle, Admiral Greig, in his report, especially noted the courage of the Mstislav crew. Crippled by the cannonballs of Swedish cannons, barely controllable, “Mstislav” did not leave the battle until the end. The commander of “Mstislav” Grigory Mulovsky owned the legendary words: “As long as my ship floats, it will not lag behind its admiral.” With the death of Mulovsky, the Russian government will remain in place for a long time abandoned the plan to travel around the world. The first Russian circumnavigation of the world on the ships of the Russian-American company “Nadezhda” and “Neva” under the command of Lieutenant Commander I. F. Krusenstern and Lieutenant Commander Yu. F. Lisyansky took place only in 1803–1806.
