About the book: 2011 / The book tells about O. E. Kotzebue's trips around the world, which he made in 1815–1818. and in 1823–1826. The first expedition on the ship "Rurik" was organized at the private expense of Count N.P. Rumyantsev and pursued scientific goals. The narrative of this journey was written immediately after the ship arrived at its native shores. The second expedition on the sloop "Enterprise" had purely official tasks. After the completion of the voyage, O. E. Kotzebue prepared a report in Russian in an extremely brief form, and then a few years later in German he wrote a detailed story about this voyage, which was published in 1830 in the city of Weimar.
