About the book: 1976 / This novel has an enviable fate: first published in 1958, it has already gone through several editions in Bulgaria and is being published in Russian for the second time. The author of the novel, a prominent Bulgarian writer Kamen Kalchev, not without reason called his book a novelized biography. The novel is based on the true life story of the glorious Bulgarian patriot Georgiy Mamarchev (1786–1846), who fought for the national liberation of his people. Georgy Mamarchev lived a truly heroic life, and our young reader will undoubtedly read a book about him with interest and excitement. Considering that this publication is dedicated to the centenary of the liberation of Bulgaria by the Russian people (1877–1878), the author of the book wrote a preface for Soviet readers.
