About the book: 1980 / The author of the book has been conducting archival research related to the Vetka Northern Expedition of 1733–1743 for more than 10 years. During this time, he published a number of articles and materials that deeply and seriously illuminate this exciting page in the history of Russian research in the Arctic and the Russian fleet. The book is dedicated to the feat of one of the detachments of the Great Northern Expedition, which explored the Taimyr Peninsula. For the first time, the leaders of the detachment - V. Pronchschev, S. Chelyuskin, Kh. Laptev - are told so fully. Based on numerous documents, the author tells how thousands of kilometers of the Taimyr coast were surveyed and mapped.
