About the book: 2007 / Book by A.G. Emelyanova (in the author’s version – “The Persian Front. 1915–1918”) was first published in Berlin in Russian in 1923 and has never been republished since then. The author, a direct participant in the fighting in Transcaucasia, describes the everyday life and military operations of Russian troops located on the territory of Persia (now Iran) as part of the Separate Caucasian Cavalry Corps under the command of cavalry general N.I. Baratova. The rank and file of the corps honestly fulfilled their military duty even during the rebellious times of 1917 and early 1918, when the Russian army, completely disintegrated under the influence of revolutionary propaganda, was no longer capable of fighting. The compilers of this publication considered it necessary to include as an appendix the letters of the Grand Duke Dmitry Pavlovich from the Persian front, where he was exiled for participation in the murder of Grigory Rasputin.
