About the book: 2023 / The highest approved special committee for the establishment of the Museum of 1812 in Moscow for 12 years of its existence (1907–1919) managed to collect numerous objects that became the basis of the permanent exhibition dedicated to the Patriotic War of 1812, which has been operating since 2012 at the State Historical Museum. Thanks to the works of the members of the Committee, the panorama “Borodino” written by Professor F.A. Rubo appeared in Moscow. The monuments and museum on the Borodino Field were also largely created thanks to the activities of members of the 1812 Museum Committee. Finally, with their work, numerous scientific and popular articles and books, postcards and albums were published for the 100th anniversary of 1812. The committee ceased its activities in 1919, without waiting for the opening of the museum, the creation of which had taken a lot of mental and physical effort. We dedicate this sketch of the Committee’s activities to the memory of those who, completing their activities, wrote with bitterness: “We did what we could, let those who come after us do more” (P.A.
