Turning to traditional moral values, in which the author sees a barrier on the path of evil, believing in man, in himself he looks for forces capable of correcting an unjust world. The novel is written in the form of the main character's diary. The main idea is that a person’s happiness depends on himself - his decency and hard work, creating a family not by calculation, but by love. Serafina violates these commandments, which turns into violence against the naturalness of human relationships. Serafina not only suffers mentally from this, but life itself takes revenge and punishes her for this. These constant punishments of fate, pursuing the heroine like fate, are a warning to the writer, a reflection of his belief in the necessity of humanity for human relationships..
