About the book: 1977 / Leningrad University Publishing House begins publishing the popular science series "The Life of Our Birds and Animals." Its issues are devoted to individual groups and species of animals, the peculiarities of their life in nature, and their practical significance for humans. The first issue of the series - “The Life of Owls” - describes a unique, widespread, but little-studied order of birds - owls. This is the first publication in Russian that talks about their mysterious nocturnal lifestyle, nesting and behavior features, place in nature and significance for people. The issue is illustrated with original photographs taken by a group of naturalists and highlighting the life of owls found in our country.
