About the book: 1982 / The book includes the sonnet cycle “Astrophil and Stella” (a total of 108 sonnets and 11 songs) by Philip Sidney (1554-1586). Only a few (about twenty) of them were previously translated for collections and anthologies. The prose treatise “Defense of Poetry” was translated by L.I. Volodarskaya for the first time. The book is supplemented by the sonnet cycle “Some Sonnets” (32 poems), which was also translated for the first time.
