About the book: year / Andrei Martyanov. Andrei Martyanov is an expert on military and naval issues in Russia. He was born in Baku, USSR, in 1963. He graduated from the Kirov Red Banner Naval Academy and served as an officer on ships and in a staff position in the Soviet Coast Guard until 1990. He took part in the events in the Caucasus that led to the collapse of the Soviet Union. In the mid-1990s, he moved to the United States, where he currently works as a laboratory director for a commercial aerospace group. He is a frequent visitor to the US Naval Institute blog.
