About the book: 1985 / "The Rape of the Bull from Cualnge" is one of the central sagas of Irish mythology, and probably one of the most exciting epic legends in the world folklore The actual plot of the saga revolves around the legendary Irish hero Cuchulainn, who confronts the huge army of Queen Medb of Connacht, defending the lands of the Ulads. As is customary in Irish folklore, the main story is supplemented by a series of short background stories, "remscéla", telling about certain important details and background of the saga. In addition, the compilers and translators of this edition included more ancient tales about Irish gods and heroes - in particular, the legend of the Battle of Mag Tuired, when the gods and demigods of Ireland, led by the god of light Lugh and King Nuada the Silver Hand, came out to defend their native lands from the army of the Fomorians, led by the lord of death and ruin Balor.
